According to a release, a Reedsburg man was arrested early Monday morning after he allegedly stabbed a bartender in the neck with a knife.

Police were called to the parking lot behind a tavern in the 200 block of E. Main Street at 1:22 a.m. Monday morning for a stabbing, according to a release.

Officers arrived and located Daniel R. Schlough, 52, of LaValle, with a knife wound to his neck. Bar patrons were restraining the suspect in the attack. The suspect, Gary L. Jackson, 48, of Reedsburg, was arrested and the knife was recovered.

Schlough was transported to Reedsburg Area Medical Center for serious but not life-threatening injuries. Schlough was later transported to UW Hospital in Madison for further treatment.

Jackson was treated and released from Reedsburg Area Medical Center for injuries sustained in the altercation, police said.

Jackson is being held in the Sauk County Jail while police are requesting charges of Attempted First Degree Reckless Homicide, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest and Possession of Marijuana.

According to witnesses, Jackson’s attack was unprovoked, police said.
