MADISON, Wis. (AP) _ The Legislature's budget committee has voted to release about $59 million in funding to Wisconsin's chief jobs agency it had held in reserve on the condition that problems cited in an audit were addressed.

The Joint Finance Committee voted 11-4 Wednesday to approve giving the money to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. as it requested. The money is for the budget year that begins in July.

WEDC also generated about a $35 million surplus. The budget committee voted to hold on to that money for potential use later on tax cuts or other economic development initiatives.

WEDC secretary and CEO Reed Hall told the committee that the agency had addressed its problems and was headed in the right direction.

All four committee Democrats voted against releasing the funding.
