The Madison City Council is referring the matter of where to locate a public market to another committee.

On a vote of 15-5 last night, the council sent the issue to the Economic Development Committee for another opinion.

The two sites being considered....East Washington Avenue, which has the backing of consultants, and on South Park Street.

Meanwhile, the city council last night did approve purchasing the old Griffs restaurant on McKenna Boulevard, on the city's South West side, at a price of $469,000.

The plan is to turn the site into a neighborhood center.
