VILLAGE OF LITTLE CHUTE, Wis. (AP) _ An Outagamie County highway worker suffered serious injuries after being hit by a shovel that fell from a truck.

The Fox Valley Metro Police Department says it happened about 9 a.m. Thursday in the Village of Little Chute.

The employee was working along U.S. Highway 441 southbound at the Fox River when the shovel fell from a passing pickup truck and struck the worker on the head, causing ``significant injuries.''
