Students in Madison will no longer be expelled for things like dress code violations or bringing a toy weapon to school, without the intent of scaring others. Monday night, the school board approved a new discipline policy....which aims to ban fewer kids by teaching them better behavior and providing incentives. Expulsions will be used as a last resort punishment for extreme violations. The new policy impacted one expulsion right away. A freshman at Madison East was set to be expelled until June of 2015 for bringing booze on a school trip last spring. The board ruled she can return to class Tuesday.
