MADISON, Wis. (AP) _ The state has revoked the license of a Prairie du Chien residential care center for children and adolescents after a child was seriously injured there in June.

The Wisconsin State Journal reports Wednesday that the state Department of Children and Families sent a letter Sept. 20 notifying the Wyalusing Academy that its license was being revoked.

The letter says that Wyalusing Academy ``failed to ensure the health, safety and welfare of children in its care'' when a child was ``severely injured'' after a June 24 incident at the center, then did not seek outside medical attention for ``more than 24 hours'' afterward.

The center's executive director Mary Beth Specht says it looks forward to meeting with the state to discuss how the facility can continue to operate.
