UPDATE (May 26, 2013 7:15 am)  Authorities have identified the 47-year old man as Stephen Rader of Madison. Rader was pronounced dead at UW Hospital after he was struck by a tow truck near Mineral Point Road and South Yellowstone Drive.

No arrests have been made in the case. The identity of the truck driver has not been released, though authorities say he has been cooperative with the investigation.


UPDATE (May 25, 2013 4:00 am)  A 47-year-old man is dead after the bike he was riding is hit by a truck. We first told you about the crash when police were called to Yellowstone and Mineral Point Road on the city's west side Friday afternoon. The truck's driver is not facing charges at this time. The victim taken to the hospital where he later died.


(May 24, 2013 4:30 pm)  A bicyclist is in the hospital after being hit by a truck. Madison police called to Yellowstone and Mineral Point Road on the city's west side late Friday. Eyewitnesses say the driver was behind the wheel of a tow truck and didn't appear to be hurt, while the victim's injuries are reported as serious.  It's not clear what may have caused the collision. 

The crash is one of several with injuries leading into the holiday weekend and a busy time on area roads. A three-year-old boy is in the hospital after being hit by a car.  Police responding to the scene along Blackhawk Drive on the west side of Madison Friday afternoon.  And there's at leat one hurt following a collision between a car and school bus.  This happened in Mt. Horeb Friday afternoon.  The details and severity of the injuries aren't known at this time.

More than 600,000 drivers are expected on roads across the state during the next couple of days.
