Veteran Dane Co Supervisor won't run again

A longtime member of the Dane County Board is not going to seek another term. Kurt Schlict,of Cross Plains, has served three terms in Dane County's 28th District. Schlict says he wants to spend more time with his family.

You can read Schlict's release below:

I’ve dedicated over a decade of my life to public service. My twins just turned 13, and my wife is in the last few months of her Master’s program.  My life has reached a crossroads.  It is a wonderful and exciting chapter that I do not want to miss.  Since my family takes priority and has always been the main focus of my life it leaves little time to combat unnecessary and reckless political progressivism.  After much thought and soul searching I’ve decided not to pursue a fourth term as Dane County Supervisor District 28.

I have been so blessed to be elected three times to serve the residents of Dane County’s 28th District.  I can’t find enough words to express what an honor and a privilege it is to represent and promote the values that you stand for.  Most importantly I would like to thank all who went to the polls and pulled the lever.  I am humbled by the thousands of you who year after year trusted and allowed me to serve.  I would also like to give a special thanks to those who financially supported my campaigns.  Without your support I would never have been able to reach so many and share the simple message of self-reliance, smaller government, and legislative accountability.  In addition, thank you to the Wisconsin State Journal, Capital Times, and other media outlets for endorsement of my candidacy over the years.  This has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.  We worked well together and have accomplished some great things while making District 28 and western Dane county a better place to live and work.  That’s the real metric. Engage in the truth and draw strength from your convictions.
