bear escapes from Outback

A curious bear got stuck inside of a Subura Outback that was parked in Carnelian Bay, near Lake Tahoe. The bear wrecked the inside of the vehicle while trying to escape and damaged the doors so badly that they could not be opened.

Placer County Sheriff Office's shared a video on Facebook of one of their brave officers approaching the car and shattering the window, allowing to bear to climb out of the Outback.

A Placer County Sheriff’s deputy had to rescue a bear that trapped itself inside a car recently near Lake Tahoe.

The bear got into a Subaru Outback in Carnelian Bay and destroyed the interior so badly that the doors couldn’t be unlocked. It was decided the safest way to get the bear out of the car was to break the window. Deputy Lade was brave enough to break the window, allowing the bear to jump out and flee into the forest.

In the video, Deputy Lade cautiously approaches the car and tries to break the rear driver's side window. His first attempt is unsuccessful and the car starts to shake as the bear reacts to the loud bang. Lade pauses for a second before giving it another shot. This time, Lade is successful and the window shatters. Lade quickly runs away from the car as the bear scrambles to climb out of the window and run back into the woods.

The sheriff's office warned people not to leave food in their vehicle when they visit Lake Tahoe because it can attract bears who are scavenging for things to eat.

A few weeks back, a bear got itself trapped inside of a Subura Outback in Connecticut. The interior of that Outback didn't fare much better, though officers were able to open the door to free the bear.
