Music News
Bruce Springsteen Officially A Billionaire
Bruce Springsteen is officially a billionaire. Forbes reported the news on Friday, estimating the singer's net worth to be around one-point-one-billion-dollars. Springsteen, who released his breakout album "Born to Run," admitted in his memoir that he didn't reach a place of financial stability until the early 80s. A big portion of his monetary gains came in 2021, when he sold his music catalog to Sony for an estimated 500-to-550-million dollars. Concert ticket revenue will continue to increase for Springsteen as he continues touring with the E Street Band through 2024.
Jagger Turns Down Book Deal
Mick Jagger will never write an autobiography. The 80-year-old founding member of The Rolling Stones is said to have turned down multi-million-pound deals to write his story because he is "not interested" in going over the past.
A source told The Sun, "Mick has drawn the line under ever writing a book about his career and life. He is all about looking forward, not reviewing the past. To spend 18 months or more working with an editor is not anything he is interested in. So it’s now a definite, ‘Thanks, but no thanks.'"
John Lennon Glasses Up For Auction
A pair of round, blue-tinted glasses worn by John Lennon in 1969 are up for auction. The glasses, which were given to a man in 1968 at Abbey Road Studios, are expected to fetch up to $3800. The young man apparently saw the spectacles lying on a piano and went to pick them up but was told by his then girlfriend to leave them, to which Lennon replied, 'it's okay, he can have them.’ The glasses will be auctioned on 31 July at Farleigh Golf Club in Surrey along with a collection of 33 black and white photographs taken at Abbey Road.
Dylan Set To Be Released
Bob Dylan is sharing the details of a new box set called ‘The 1974 Live Recordings.’ The project is a 431-track collection of his 30 dates in 42 days with The Band, which is set to be released across 27 discs on September 20th. The deluxe box set features 417 previously unreleased performances, as well as newly-mixed recordings and liner notes. In honor of the box set announcement, a never-before-released version of ‘Forever Young’ that was recorded live in Seattle in 1974 has been released. Check it out on YouTube.
Bruce Kulick on People Who Call KISS ‘Simple’
Bruce Kulick was the guitarist for KISS from 1984 to 1996, and he can speak truth to power about playing KISS songs night after night. Kulick said in an interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, “ … Anyone that considers KISS simple or easy music to play, they’re idiots. This stuff is hard.” He added, “It’s just that the band never got credit that way and it always should. Gene [Simmons] never wants to brag about how good he is on bass and what a tremendous musician he actually is. That’s part of his schtick, I believe. I don’t buy it for a second.”

Drake is being trolled by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The band is currently on tour and in each city, they're using specific pictures to promote their show. Amid their recent stop in Drake's hometown of Toronto, the Red Hot Chili Peppers decided to use an image of Kendrick Lamar instead of Drizzy. The picture is from K Dot's music video "Not Like Us," which is a diss song to Drake. Kendrick's picture wasn't the only image that was used as they also included other Canadians like Jim Carrey, Rick Moranis, and more.

He went on to say, "Lucy-Bleu was an incredibly talented artist, a passionate dreamer, and a charming, lovable, sweet soul. The family asks for privacy at this time and requests that social media speculation be kept to a minimum as they grieve and process this devastating loss.’

Tony Iommi Shares New Scent
Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi is launching a new cologne with Italian fragrance company Xerjoff.
"Deified" is described on its website as, "A combination of forces that play on the palindromic nature of sound, scent and sensorial sequences. Authentic and warm accents of saffron meet powdery and leathery facets that dance with the delicate touch of gourmand freshness. Cinnamon exalts spicier notes, complemented by gentle rose at the heart. The woody base of papyrus and patchouli leaves the senses longing for more in a rhythmic exchange of back and forth." The site also says a soundtrack and music video are soon to come. Go to xerjoff.com for more info.
Chris Cornell's Widow Shares Clip Of "Fast Car" Cover
A clip of Chris Cornell covering the iconic Tracy Chapman hit "Fast Car" was shared by his widow Vicky on what would have been the late singer's 60th birthday. She posted a video to Instagram with a snippet of the song set to a montage of Chris Cornell footage. She also wrote a heartfelt tribute: "Although everyone that loved him is sad that he’s no longer here, it’s all of you, the fans who made him, whose love has continued to keep his legacy alive." Cornell also hinted the song might see a full release sometime soon, promising "there's more to come!!!"
Iron Maiden Will Drop Songs Drummer Nicko McBrain Can’t Play Anymore
Nicko McBrain said Iron Maiden will drop songs from the setlist that he’s no longer able to play. McBrain had a stroke in January 2023, which resulted in partial paralysis that was treated with intensive physical therapy. The drummer said during a show with his side project Titanium Tarts, “I’ve gotta be honest with you: it was a touch and go last year for me. I couldn’t play; I was paralyzed on the right side. Fortunately… there’s a girl called Julie Blum that looked after me, and in three months, she had me playing again.” He added, “And it ain’t the old Nicko – it’s not the old one by a long shot. But at least it's part of me. And my band, bless their hearts, Steve Harris and the rest of the guys turn around and say, ‘If you can’t do something in a song, we just won’t do that song.’”
