Metallica Tickets Being Sold At Dirt-Cheap Prices

With the next leg of Metallica’s “M72” stadium tour kicking off in just over a week, one would expect scalpers to be charging exorbitant prices for last-minute tickets. And one would be wrong. Tickets for the trek – which kicks off August 2nd in Foxborough, Massachusetts – are being peddled on sites like Vivid Seats for as low as $30 apiece. Tickets for the band’s August 11th show at Chicago’s Soldier Field can be purchased for as little as $61, while tickets for the August 16th and 18th performances at Minneapolis’ U.S. Bank Stadium are going for as low as $50, per the ticket broker’s website. For the tour, Metallica will play two nights in each city – one show on Friday, the other on Sunday. They promise no songs will be repeated.

Pink Floyd Concert Getting Stereo Mix

A classic Pink Floyd concert is getting the stereo mix treatment from Alan Parsons, the engineer of the band’s classic album “The Dark Side of the Moon.” Parsons confirmed on Facebook that he worked on 5.1 and Dolby Atmos mixes of “Pink Floyd: Live at Earls Court in London 1994,” which features the band playing "The Dark Side of the Moon" in its entirety. According to the post, Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour personally requested Alan handle the mixes, and Gilmour then approved them. Parsons said, “It was a fantastic experience to go back to the songs I knew so well from the original album. Remixing this amazing live performance was a real treat.”

Duff McKagan Not Worried About AI

Duff McKagan isn’t worried about AI when it comes to Guns N’ Roses. In a new interview, the bassist said, “As far as music goes, for a rock band like Guns N’ Roses it doesn’t apply. I don’t think it could. There’s nothing better than sitting down and writing a song on an acoustic guitar. There’ll never be anything better than that. I see there’s Al art on Instagram on Guns N’ Roses, and some of the stuff’s great, and my skin always looks amazing in it. I’m like: ‘I like this AI, my hair! That coat! I wish I had that coat!’ But in seriousness, I don’t know enough about it. As far as it applies to music, I don’t see it at all.” Earlier this year, Guns N’ Roses released an AI-generated music video for their new single “The General.”

Bruce Springsteen, Elton John Heading to Toronto International Film Festival

Some music superstars are making their way to the Toronto International Film Festival in September. Bruce Springsteen and Elton John are expected at the event, which will include 63 films. Other Hollywood celebrities attending include Amy Adams, Cate Blanchett, and Will Ferrell. The full TIFF schedule will be unveiled on August 13.

Iron Maiden To Drop Song Nicko McBrain Can't Play Anymore

Iron Maiden is implementing some new rules to address the fact that Nicko McBrian can't play like he used to. In January of 2023, the drummer suffered a stroke that left him partially paralyzed. During a recent concert with his side project Titanium Tarts, McBrian told the crowd that he's not the "old Nicko" anymore but at least he's got a part of him still. He went on to reveal that his Iron Maiden band mates said if he can't do a certain part of a song, they just won't play it. He said "Caught Somewhere In Time" is just one song he's unable to play like he used to.

Lemmy's Dressing Room To Be Recreated

Bloodstock Open Air festival in the UK is recreating Lemmy’s dressing room. Organizers say you’ll not only be able to pay your respects to the Motorhead frontman, but you can also see a specially created bust containing Lemmy’s ashes, and a host of genuine personal items including his iconic hat, boots, bass guitar, and hand-drawn pictures, as well as handwritten lyrics, dressing room paraphernalia, and a never-seen-before selection of his personal photos. The bust of Lemmy will be unveiled on the main stage Friday in a special "Lemmy Forever" ceremony before being placed in Lemmy’s dressing room.

Ian Paice Talks Deep Purple

Ian Paice is addressing the fact that Deep Purple is largely considered to be an underrated rock band in America. In a new interview, the drummer said, "Yeah, well, there's no logical reason to it. There's times when you are the flavor of the month and times where you're not the flavor of the year. You just have to accept that. And that can change with a border crossing. You can go from Germany to France and in one country you're bigger than the other one. I don't think we've actually seriously worried about any one particular market, although everybody understands the U.S. is incredibly important. It is the biggest market. And if you can get it on your side, it makes life a lot easier. But we're lucky that we do have the rest of the world." He went on to say, "We have a great deal of fun, and we keep saying it could be one, two years and that fun won't be there anymore. And so every day we can get on stage and be part of this circus, this glorious rock and roll circus, is a good day. We've been blessed with a life which has been superb to us and given us so much enjoyment, looked after our families. You can't say anything negative about it. It's been good, and I want it to be good for a little while longer."

Songs Get Slower As Musicians Age

The tempo of songs released by many popular musicians decreases as they age. A new study out of the University of Jyväskylä in Finland shows that the tempo increases until the musicians are in their early 30s and then steadily declines, falling below their teenage level when they reach their 50s. Geoff Luck from the University of Jyväskylä says, “We saw this very clear downward trend. We are confident that tempo really does decline over the lifespan.”
