PINK FLOYD: Comfortably Intelligent
With little to no chance of Roger Waters, Nick Mason and David Gilmour ever coming together again as Pink Floyd, Mason would like to see the band continue using Artificial Intelligence. He tells The Mirror, “It would be fascinating to see what AI could do with new music. [What would happen] if you tried to run it as a sort of ‘Where did Pink Floyd go after?’ The thing to do would be to have an AI situation where David and Roger become friends again... “We could be like ABBA by the time we’ve finished with it,” referring to Voyage, the Swedish band's avatar show in London.
Mason, like Waters and Gilmour, continues to perform. But his band, Saucerful of Secrets, performs Floyd material recorded before 1973's The Dark Side of the Moon. The last time Pink Floyd performed together was in 2005 at the Live 8 benefit in London's Hyde Park.
David Gilmour, Wife, Celebrate Anniversary
Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour and wife Polly Samson are celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. The musician posted a picture of his wedding day on social media yesterday with a note that reads, “She signed! Phew! 30 years ago, today. The best xxx.” Samson, meanwhile, posted two color photos from their wedding and wrote, “30 years ago today!” along with a heart-and-arrow emoji.

How Joe Satriani Learned Eddie Van Halen's Songs
Learning how to play like Eddie Van Halen is no easy task - that's why Joe Satriani didn't even try. As he prepared for Sammy Hagar's 'Best Of All Worlds Tour' Satch says he didn't watch videos of Eddie himself, but of *other* artists covering Van Halen. He did it for two reasons: first, he wanted to "see how other guitar players work around the fact that their hands are not Eddie's hands.” Second, any time he watched Van Halen footage, Eddie would play the song differently: "I couldn't find one live clip of Eddie playing the same song that was remotely similar." The 'Best Of All Worlds Tour' launched earlier this month with Hagar, Satriani, Michael Anthony, and Jason Bonham.
Santana Finished Album
Carlos Santana is ready to play. The 10-time Grammy-winning guitarist is set to return to the road after more than a year off on September 11 in Atlantic City. In a new interview, he said, “We’re really, really, really excited. It feels like somebody grabbed your head and put it inside a swimming pool and you’ve been holding your breath, and now you’re able to come out for some air." Santana also said he’s "just about finished" with a new album, "Blessings and Miracles." He explained, “We’re putting the final touches on it, and I’m so happy to tell you that I haven’t felt this kind of bubbles in my stomach and in my heart and in my mind, effervescent, since ‘Supernatural.
James Hetfield On Metallica's Commitment To Charity
Few artists commit to more charity work than Metallica - and James Hetfield says it's become a calling for the band. On the latest episode of The Metallica Report podcast, Hetfield talked about the band's 'All Within My Hands' foundation. "As corny as that sounds, there's not really a better feeling in this world than helping someone else and doing it without telling about it..." He says his favorite is the "blue-collar work" the foundation does: "The ability to sponsor people into restarting their life or giving them sense of hope, giving them a trade that they can take anywhere in the world and feel that they are worthy."
OZZY: Oops!... He Did It Again
Ozzy Osbourne, his wife Sharon and daughter Kelly have apologized to Britney Spears on The Osbournes Podcast for ridiculing the dance videos she posts online. Ozzy said he was "fed up of seeing poor old Britney Spears on YouTube,” to which she responded with by saying "[the Osbournes are] the most boring family known to mankind -- kindly [screw] off.” Now, on a new episode of The Osbournes Podcast, Kelly said, "Can we apologize to Britney Spears?" No word from Britney on if she's accepted the apology.

I will never ever stop missing you and remembering what a beacon of happiness, laughter, creativity and beauty you have always been. And still are. Recently, Duff McKagan, of Guns N' Roses, revealed the first and only time he met Prince, which didn't go as he planned. He said, "Yes, I met him one time. It was in Germany. I went, it was the Diamonds and Pearls tour. Guns N' Roses were playing the whatever stadium the next night, and he was playing the arena." He continued, "I went in through the back, Guns N' Roses guy, all that stuff. [Prince] heard I was there and would like to talk to me." He added, "He knew I was a fan. I was way too drunk. It was when I was still drinking, and I realized I was too drunk." McKagan continued, "I don't remember what happened. I remember there was candles and stuff, and I'm f**king too drunk. Bonamassa told the host that he's happy the singer was aware that he was going to be a part of the Rock Hall but is upset that he didn't get to live to see it. He then went on to say that the organization needs to stop waiting for artists to die before they're recognized. Mayall passed away last Monday.

Americans Who Can’t Afford To Travel Still Taking “Justi-Vacations”
Is your budget getting in the way of your travel plans this year? New research suggests it doesn’t have to, if you’re willing to change your mindset. The results of Allianz Partners USA’s 16th Annual Vacation Confidence Index are in, revealing confidence in taking an annual vacation is at an all-time high. And it seems those desperate to find ways to travel are making it happen.
According to the travel insurance company’s index, which is based on a survey of thousands of U.S. adults:
·Nearly three-quarters (73%) say they’re in “desperate need” of a vacation.
·Two-thirds of Americans are confident in taking a vacation sometime this year, the highest amount since the index started in 2009.
·But traveling is expensive and 47% of respondents admit they can’t really afford a vacation this year.
·That’s not stopping the 49% who say they’re likely to travel anyway.
·They’ve sparked a new travel trend - the justified vacation, or “justi-vacation” - which is when someone takes a vacation despite not being able to afford it.
·More than half (57%) plan to scale back their travel plans this year because of inflation.
·And it seems money is no problem for a lucky few, including 27% who say they’re investing more in luxury travel experiences this year, like business class tickets and higher end hotels.
·As for the last time Americans took a vacation, 63% have taken one in the last year, while 22% have taken one within the last three months.
Gen Z Parents Having Hotter Sex Than Child-free Peers
For some couples, having kids seems to ruin their sex life, but not Gen Zers. It seems to be having the opposite effect on their bedroom satisfaction, according to new research. It finds that young parents are having smoking hot sex and a lot more of it than others their age who don’t have kids.
“Gen Z parents are absolutely dominating in the bedroom — leaving their child-free peers in the dust,” says study author Kasi Bruno. She’s a co-founder of Culture Bureau, a consumer behavior consultancy, which recently polled 5-thousand sexually active millennials and Gen Zers to find out the buzziest lifestyle trends of those ages 20 to 40. Their survey reveals:
·More than three-quarters (79%) of Gen Z parents report having “truly mind-blowing” sex in the last three months.
·But less than half (45%) of Gen Zs who don’t have kids say the same.
·Even millennial parents aren’t keeping up, as only 74% of them have had that kind of amazing sex in the last three months.
·Young parents also report feeling less lonely. Gen Zers without kids are three times more likely to say they experience loneliness than Gen Z parents.
·Feelings of worry and sadness also decreased in 20-something parents, while positive emotions including love, happiness and gratitude increased.
“Counter to the popular belief that kids kill romance, Gen Z parents are turning the tables,” notes Bruno. “They feel their relationships are actually strengthened and enhanced by the presence of their children.”
How Much Americans Will Spend On Back-To-School Shopping This Year
It may feel like summer is just getting started, but in some parts of the country, schools are already starting or soon will be. Parents who are ready for the summer break to be over may be happy for the return to school, but with it comes a big price tag for all those supplies, uniforms and calculators. And that’s an expense many of us aren’t ready for.
A new survey from CNet asks over 24-hundred (2,457) U.S. adults about their back-to-school shopping plans and finds:
·Americans will spend an average of $662 on back-to-school shopping this year.
·Nearly half (44%) have already set aside money for this expense.
·Nine in 10 back-to-school shoppers will try to cut costs by using one kind of savings method.
·The most popular ways to save are only shopping sales, looking for discounts and using coupons.
·More than a quarter (29%) are willing to take on credit card debt or use a payment plan, like Buy Now, Pay Later.
·And 22% are planning to shop their state’s tax-free holidays to save on back-to-school needs.
·Fewer people say they’re going to finance their back-to-school purchases, but 14% are still using credit cards to pay for theirs.
To save more on back-to-school shopping, the experts at CNet recommend:
·For laptops, check wholesale clubs, like Costco, to avoid paying full price.
·Make a list of everything you need, prioritize the essentials, then figure out how much you can afford and stick to the budget.
·Compare prices online and in stores and don’t assume the dollar store is always cheapest.
·Buy in phases, starting with what your kid needs on the first day. Then, over the next month, buy more supplies as they go on clearance.
McDonald’s Is Testing New Big Arch Burger
Late last year, McDonald’s execs teased that the company was working on a new larger burger, but no more information was offered, until yesterday when details of the highly-anticipated new burger were announced on an earnings call. The new burger, called the “Big Arch,” is designed to rival the Big Mac in size and value, and features two beef patties, melted cheese, crispy toppings, and a tangy McDonald's sauce. The chain is currently piloting the Big Arch in three international markets, with plans to potentially roll it out more broadly based on customer feedback. This new addition aims to offer a satisfying option for McDonald's customers worldwide, that will have “a superior value to what they can get anywhere else.”
Chipotle Debuts A “Burrito-Proof” Beauty Product
Tomorrow (July 31st) is National Avocado Day and to celebrate, Chipotle is teaming up with beauty brand Wonderskin to introduce its first beauty product, a burrito-proof lip stain called Lipotle. The unique lip stain is inspired by guacamole and transforms from a bold green masque to a nude rose color after application. The product is designed to be long-lasting, able to withstand up to 10 hours of wear, including multiple meals. Lipotle will be available for purchase starting today (July 30th). Chipotle will also be marking National Avocado Day by offering free guacamole all day on the 31st. Use promo code AVO2024 on the Chipotle app to get your free guac as a topping or a side.
The Ways Restaurants Try To Trick You
Everywhere you go, someone is trying to manipulate and influence you into behavior that benefits them in some way. It happens even as you try and enjoy a relaxing meal at a local restaurant. Here are some of the subtle ways restaurants guide your decision-making process into a direction that benefits their bottom line.
·Call-Out Boxes – Most sit-down restaurant menus will feature certain items that are highlighted in boxes. Those are designed to catch your eye and are the highest profit items for the restaurant
·Adjectives – Words like “juicy,” “melty,” and “crispy” are far more attractive than just saying they have a burger, grilled cheese, or fried chicken
·Kobe Beef Sliders – Unless they cost hundreds of dollars, you’re probably not getting “authentic” Kobe beef in those sliders, but it sure sounds impressive
·Chef’s Recommendation – It might be worth a look at Yelp! for some of these. They could be a house specialty, or they could be just a high-margin item they want you to think is more special than it is
·Ghost Kitchens – These have become popular on food delivery apps. They don’t have actually physical locations, and the “virtual” restaurant might actually be based out of the same local restaurant you might’ve been looking for a change from
·Truffle (Almost) Anything – Adding “truffle” sounds impressive, but you might just be getting truffle oil
·Brunch – They take a $1 omelet, add a mimosa, and charge $14 for it…and call it “brunch,” when it’s really just a “more expensive weekend breakfast”
·Small Plates – A small plate is essentially an appetizer but at an elevated price. A “proper menu” will tell if you if it’s intended to be shared tapas style
Rhode Island Residents Terrified By ‘Dragonfly Apocalypse’
Beachgoers in Rhode Island over the weekend found their time in the sun cut short when the sky suddenly became dark – not because of clouds, but because of dragonflies. A huge swarm of dragonflies blotted out the sun over Misquamicut Beach in Westerly on Saturday, bringing with it a deafening buzz that forced many of the startled people to cover their ears as they ran for cover. One person described the incident as “a dragonfly apocalypse.” David Gregg, the executive director of the Rhode Island Natural History Survey, says the dragonflies that comprised the swarm are very common in New England. However, they don’t have a tendency to swarm, he says – making Saturday’s incident a mystery.
Scuba Diving Couple Rescued After 36 Hours At Sea
An Oklahoma couple is lucky to be alive after spending 36 hours lost in the ocean on a scuba diving trip. Nathan and Kim Maker were separated from their group when they were swept away by stormy weather in the Gulf of Mexico. Kim told ABC they needed to keep treading water "or we probably would have frozen to death." Nathan was at particular risk because he has diabetes and came close to slipping into a coma. She said Nathan made it into a 'game' to keep them going until they were finally rescued by the Coast Guard 36 hours later.
Forget Meat Allergies, Someone Just Died In Spain After Getting "Bleeding Eye Disease" From Tick Bite
You’ve heard about the possibility of developing an allergy to meat as a result of a tick bite, but this takes things to a new level. A 74-year-old man near Madrid, Spain died Saturday after a tick bite gave him what’s being called “Bleeding Eye Disease,” which is exactly what it sounds like. The Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever is an “Ebola-like” virus that’s transmitted by ticks. The good news? It’s not common, with the man becoming the first person to be killed by the virus since May 2020. The bad news? The World Health Organization lists the disease as one of nine pathogens deemed most likely to trigger a pandemic.
Woman Talks About Life as a Professional Mermaid
Brandee Anthony, known as the Vero Beach Mermaid, turned her love for water into a unique career eight years ago. Originally a stunt for her streaming channel, she fell in love with mermaiding. "I wanted to go live underwater because I'm a complete water child," she explained. Anthony owns a variety of mermaid tails made from scuba fabric, silicone, or swimsuit material, with some costing over $6,000. She says they are easy to swim in despite weighing over 30 pounds. Despite criticism, Anthony remains passionate. "Of course, I know I'm not actually a mermaid. This is something I chose to do as a profession because it was a fire in my soul." She also organizes the Mermaid Free Dive Summit, promoting safety and environmental efforts. "We raised money for a local sea turtle non-profit and hosted a beach cleanup," she adds, Mermaiding has become an essential part of her life. "Everything I do these days involves a mermaid. It's great fitness and about fun and self-exploration," Anthony says.
Woman Finds Object in Abdomen After Doctors Forget to Remove It
Doctors in Brazil removed a 7 inch piece of cloth that was left inside Mariel Vidal, 58, during a surgery she had in 2022 to remove a cancerous tumor. The cloth was discovered during a procedure she had last week. Vidal's daughter, Stefany, said her mother began experiencing stomach pains and weight loss in November 2023, similar to her initial cancer symptoms.
Two weeks ago, Vidal noticed unusual material in her colostomy pouch. A doctor-in-training found it to be cloth, not stool. "She saw it, thought it was strange, and started pulling it, then she realized it was a cloth," Stefany recalled. The surgeon removed the cloth in two attempts.
Stefany expressed anger over the discovery, "We thought the cancer was coming back... But finding out that it was a cloth inside her made me angry," she said. The family plans legal action against the hospital. Cubatão Municipal Hospital stated it is supporting Vidal's recovery and noted the surgeon from the 2022 operation is no longer with their team.
Delayed Passengers Get Revenge By Pillaging Sky Club Lounge
In a TikTok clip that “appears to coincide with” the Crowd Strike/Microsoft meltdown a couple of weeks ago, two men show how they exacted revenge after not being compensated for the time lost due to flight delays. In the video, the men show how they decided to pillage the Delta Sky Club by eating and drinking as much as possible. At one point, they can be seen ordering a glass of wine just so they can pour it into the trash. In another part of the video, one man is fully clothed in the shower running water without actually getting under it…just to waste it. In addition, they “pilfer” all of the Sky Club magazines and waste as much hand sanitizer as possible. It’s not known how much this ended up costing Delta, or if it’s even close to what they would’ve ended up losing if they’d just offered the men some form of compensation.
Olympic Announcer Given The Boot After Sexist Comment
Eurosport commentator Bob Ballard has been booted from Olympic broadcasts after a sexist comment he made at the expense of the Australian women’s 4x100m freestyle relay team. After the team had secured a gold medal performance, Ballard said, “Well, the women just finishing up. You know what women are like…hanging around, doing their make-up.” The backlash was swift, and action was taken quickly, with Eurosport calling the comment “inappropriate” and relieving Ballard of his Olympic duties effective immediately. Two days after the comment, Ballard apologized saying he never meant to cause offense with his comments.
Olympics Swimmers’ Policy On Peeing In The Pool
When it comes to peeing in the swimming pool, Olympic athletes have thoughts. Talking with the Wall Street Journal, here’s what some of them had to say on the matter:
·Katie Hoff – “It sounds gross to outsiders, but because there’s so much chlorine (in the pool), you don’t even think about it”
·Lilly King – “(I pee in) every single pool I’ve swam in. That’s just how it goes. I can actually pee while I’m swimming”
·Cullen Jones – “You never want to swim through a warm patch…you’re crop dusting everyone. That’s foul”
Why Olympic Athletes Bite Their Medals
If you’ve seen any Olympics medal ceremony, you’ve seen athletes bite their medals. Why do they do that? It dates back to when biting metal, any metal, not just medals from the Olympics was a way to test its authenticity. That carries over into the games where there’s only six grams of gold in a gold medal. There’s also tradition. Current athletes are following in the footsteps of Michael Phelps, Simone Biles, and others. The third explanation is that it’s a “money shot” for photographers and the athletes are happy to oblige.
Internet Makes Fun of Olympics Spectators for Seemingly Not Recognizing Mick Jagger
It’s been widely reported that Mick Jagger was one of many celebrities to take in the Olympic games over the weekend. What is getting less attention is the reaction to photos of Jagger at the Olympics and how no one around him seems to care he’s there. One X user (formerly Twitter) wrote, “Imagine being at the Olympics and being a millennial looking at your cell phone and not knowing you’re next to Mick Jagger himself. Society in decline!” However, the post received some funny comments like, “What if they’re all texting omg I am sitting next to Mick Jagger?”
Meet Peru’s “Phoenix Squad,” A Group Of Infidelity-Busting Women Detectives
In Peru, a group of female detectives, calling themselves the “Phoenix Squad,” are on the lookout for cheaters. For two decades, the Phoenix Squad has been “exposing unfaithful partners” in Lima and in surrounding areas. Founder Jessica Melina says her group has “solved over 10K cases” over the last 20 years using “old-fashioned detective work, drone surveillance, hidden cameras, and other tricks up their sleeves. While the Phoenix Squad is made up entirely of women, Melina says they don’t discriminate and are happy to bust female cheaters the same as their male counterparts.
HOA Calls Cops On Kid’s Lemonade Stand
Some jobs attract a special breed of a-hole. One such job seems to be being a member of an HOA. In Summit County, Colorado, members of the Wildernest Home Owners Association called the local sheriff to report children “running an illegal lemonade stand” in the neighborhood. When deputies arrived, they asked the kids to move back a bit from the roadway but didn’t find “any issue” with where the lemonade stand was located. But…the drama wasn’t over. Those who reported the “crime” then started yelling at the kids, according to deputies, claiming they were “on private property.” Again, deputies found no legal issues with what the kids were doing because it was “shared HOA property and because the childrens’ parents are part of the HOA they had a right to be there.” While it can’t officially be confirmed, reports say that Satan has offered the HOA members really good seats in Hell when the time comes.

Canada Appeals Six-Point Deduction After Drone Scandal
Canada has filed a formal appeal of the six-point deduction levied against their women’s soccer team. This all stemmed after a team staff member was caught flying a drone over a training session for New Zealand’s national team. In their filing, Canada says the penalty “unfairly punishes the athletes for action they had no part in and goes far beyond restoring fairness to the match against New Zealand.” A hearing will happen later today, and a decision is expected at some point on Wednesday afternoon.

Calf Injury Won’t Keep Simone Biles From Competing In Finals
In case you had any doubt, a strained calf won’t be stopping Simone Biles from going all-out in the Olympic gymnastics finals. During her warm-ups on Sunday, Biles “tweaked” her left calf, which had reportedly been an “issue” for a couple of weeks. For a bit, there was talk that Team USA would be holding out Biles from the uneven bars to give her a break, but that talk has been put to bed. Standing at the podium, medal winners at the 2024 Paris Olympics receive more than just their medals; they also get a slim, mysterious box. Inside this box is the official 2024 Paris Olympics poster, designed by French artist Ugo Gattoni. In addition to the poster, winners receive a plushie of the 2024 Paris Olympics mascot, Phryge [FREE-jee], which is based on the phrygian hat that was a symbol of freedom during the French (and American) revolution and looks like a red version of the hat famously worn by Smurfs. Each Phryge plushie features a medal emblem that corresponds to the Olympian’s award. Paralympic winners receive a similar package with the official event poster and a Paralympic Phryge plushie.

Items in the auction include Simpson's personal property, like his Heisman Trophy, golf clubs, and a high-end SUV. Simpson died on April 10 after a long battle with prostate cancer.
