Cop Tackles Suspect Outside Police Station

In a remarkable police takedown captured on surveillance video, a California police officer performed a perfect tackle of a man armed with a baseball bat. 28-year-old Christopher Rivas is alleged to have suddenly begun swinging a bat against the windows of the police department headquarters in West Covina, Calif. When the glass failed to break, the suspect then took to smashing the station’s front doorway, which also failed to break. The officer then collides with the suspect at the waist, throwing him to the ground as the baseball bat rolls clear. Rivas was charged with assault and sent to the LA County Medical Center for treatment.
