There's a risk for severe storms on Monday afternoon in the greater Madison area and southern Wisconsin, with the primary threats being hail and strong winds, according to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee.
The timing of the storms appears to be from 3 until 7 p.m., or right during afternoon rush. In addition to hail and strong winds, there is expected to be heavy rain and lightning.
From the National Weather Service:
Showers and isolated thunderstorms will push through southeast Wisconsin late this morning and early afternoon. A second round of showers and storms will arrive from western Wisconsin later this afternoon and evening. A few of those storms may become strong to severe with large hail and strong winds the main threat. The main period of concern will run from 3 to 7 pm today. Lower humidity air arrives in the wake of a cold front tonight and Tuesday.
