America is full of breathtakingly beautiful natural scenery, from expansive forests stretching hundreds of miles along mountain ranges to wonders of nature that formed over millions of years into the awe-inspiring sights we know today to swaths of coastal shores offering views of the ocean as far as the eye can see.
Travel + Leisure compiled a list of the 50 "most beautiful places in the U.S.," detailing the most gorgeous spot in each state that showcases the true beauty of America. According to the list, the most beautiful place in Wisconsin are the Apostle Islands, a grouping of over 20 islands on Lake Superior with stunning sea caves, breathtaking scenery, plentiful wildlife and historic lighthouses.
Here's what the site had to say:
"There's so much to explore on the 20-plus islands that make up this archipelago. Hike through the wilderness, hop in a kayak, scuba dive to shipwrecks and underwater sea caves (Lake Superior really does look and feel more like an ocean), and explore the lighthouses."
