NEIL YOUNG: Goes Big With Archives Vol. III

Neil Young's Archives Vol. III is his biggest box set yet. It's due out on September 6th and the standard version is 17 CDs and costs $240, with the deluxe version that adds five Blu-Ray discs and costs $450. The set covers from 1976 to 1987 and it features 15 unreleased songs and 121 unreleased tracks, while the deluxe version comes with 11 full-length films, four of them unreleased.

Young has shared an unreleased song from 1978 recorded with Crazy Horse called "Bright Sunny Day," which is on YouTube. There's also a trailer for the set too. Read the entire track listing for the set on Young's webstore

JIMI HENDRIX: It Never Ends

Jimi Hendrix had a four-year recording career -- 1967 to 1970 -- and in that time released just four studio albums. Yet, he has arguably released more albums than any of his contemporaries, and there's another one on the way.

Electric Lady Studios: A Jimi Hendrix Vision is a deluxe box set with 39 songs -- 38 of which are previously unreleased. He recorded them with his new-look Jimi Hendrix Experience -- Billy Cox on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums -- at his Electric Lady Studios in New York between June and August of 1970. It will be released on September 13th.

Among the highlights of this set, which will be available in numerous configurations, are 20

newly created 5.1 surround sound mixes of the entire First Rays of the New Rising Sun album, plus three bonus tracks -- “Valleys of Neptune,” “Pali Gap,” and “Lover Man.” And the Blu-ray includes the new documentary, Electric Lady Studios: A Jimi Hendrix Vision, which will open at the Quad Cinema in New York City on August 9th as the start of a worldwide release. It focuses on the creation of the studio that has been the birthplace of dozens of classic albums.

Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with director and co-producer John McDermott, Jimi's half-sister, co-producer and president/CEO of Experience Hendrix, Janie Hendrix, and producer/engineer Eddie Kramer. In celebration of the film, the City of New York will temporarily rename a portion of West 8th Street between Sixth Avenue and MacDougal Street, where Electric Lady Studios still stands, Jimi Hendrix Way.

And with the announcement of this new set comes the release of a previously unreleased version of “Angel [Take 7].” It includes the original performances recorded by Hendrix, Mitchell and Cox on July 23rd, 1970. It does not include any of the drums and additional percussion elements Mitchell opted to add to this master take after Jimi died. You'll find it on YouTube.

ROLLING STONES: Hackney Crystals

If you were lucky enough to attend one of The Rolling Stones' shows on their Tour '24, then you may want to remember it by spending another $358. That's what it will cost you to buy one of a thousand individually numbered crystal tickets commemorating the tour in support of their latest album, 2023's Hackney Diamonds. The description reads: "Forget paper -- this isn’t your ordinary ticket stub. Inspired by the tour’s name, the design shimmers with a unique diamond-like bevel, incorporating the tour date and name into this one-of-a-kind ticket. It’s a collector’s dream.”

Each ticket comes in a keepsake box, a certificate of authenticity and a display stand.

Tour '24 started on April 28th in Houston with 20 shows through July 21st in Ridgedale, Missouri.

Mick Jagger Attends Olympics with 8-Year-Old Son

Mick Jagger is among the many celebrities who are attending events at the Paris Olympics.

The Rolling Stones frontman was spotted with his 8-year-old son, Deveraux, at a fencing event at the Grand Palais. Also joining the Olympic fun was Melanie Hamrick, Jagger’s 37-year-old girlfriend and mother to Deveraux.

THE ROLLING STONES AND IRON MAIDEN NOW HAVE A FAMILY CONNECTION

Its a match made in rock and roll heaven. Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood and Iron Maiden bassist Steve Harris are officially in-laws. That’s because Wood’s son Tyrone Wood has married Harris’ daughter Faye Harris! The two were wed in a civil ceremony on Friday in the Marylebone borough of London. “It was a magical day celebrating with our family and friends in London,” Faye and Tyrone said in a statement. Tyrone and Faye began dating in 2022 and got engaged in December 2023.

MADISON SQUARE GARDEN GIFTS BILLY JOEL A MOTORCYCLE AFTER HIS LAST SHOW

Billy Joel ended his record-breaking run at the Madison Square Garden recently. The iconic artist played a total of 150 shows at the venue, which saw tributes from celebs, special guests in the audience, and even a guest spot by Axl Rose. Well, MSG wasn’t going to let things end without showing their love for the rocker after his decade-long residency. The venue reportedly gifted Billy Joel a 1978 Triumph Bonneville motorcycle! That was extra special because 1978 was the first year that Billy played at Madison Square Garden.

AXL & BILLY JOEL: A Rose to Top It Off

Axl Rose helped Billy Joel bring his one-show-a-month residency at New York's Madison Square Garden to a close Thursday night, joining The Piano Man for two songs -- Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die," which Guns N' Roses recorded in 1991; and AC/DC's "Highway to Hell," which Axl did with Billy in 2017 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Axl then came back out for the final song of the night, Billy's "You May Be Right."

Billy's final and 116th show of the residency, which he started in January 2014, raised his total Garden performances to 150. Billy noted "I’m kind of flabbergasted that it did last as long as it did. My team tells me that we could continue to sell tickets, but 10 years, 150 shows – alright already! Seems like a nice number." Joel says ending the residency will free him up to play other venues in and around New York City. “We can play stadiums. Yankee Stadium, Giants Stadium, Citi Field, where the Mets play, so there’s plenty of that lined up. I’m not going to stop doing shows. That’s what I do. We have a whole schedule laid out into 2025, where we’re going to be playing.”

And despite turning 75 in May, he has no plans to retire. “What else am I going to do? Stop doing shows and sit around, and watch TV, and turn into a vegetable? No. I don’t want to do that."

Throughout the course of his MSG run, Joel has sold more than 1.6 million tickets, and was joined by numerous special guests -- including Steve Miller, Sting, Bruce Springsteen, Brian Johnson, Tony Bennett, Paul Simon, Billy Gibbons, Elvis Costello, and Foreigner's Lou Gramm and Mick Jones, who he inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2013. Joel, who has performed at the venue more than any other artist, played first show there on December 14th, 1978 in support of his fifth album, The Stranger.

In 2006 he did 12 consecutive shows there, which set the venue’s record for “most consecutive performances by any artist.” To commemorate the historic moment, a banner stating “Joel – 12” was raised to the Garden’s rafters, making him the first entertainer to join the city’s Knicks and Rangers NBA and NHL franchises.

Axl Rose Once Re-Recorded 'Appetite For Destruction'

Did you know there's a never-released version of Appetite For Destruction that Axl Rose recorded in the '90s? It's true - in a 1999 MTV interview, Axl claimed he'd re-recorded the entire album, swapping out two songs for new versions of "You Could Be Mine" and "Patience". For whatever reason, this "Axl's Version" Appetite was never released - and likely never will be, now that he's reunited with Slash and Duff McKagan.

David Gilmour Offers Birthday Tribute To Late Pink Floyd Member

David Gilmour offered a heartwarming tribute to his late Pink Floyd bandmate Richard Wright, on what would have been Wright's 81st birthday. He called Wright "my musical partner and my friend" and said the keyboardist's contributions were "frequently forgotten". He also pointed out that Wright wrote some of the Pink Floyd's signature songs, including "Us And Them" and "The Great Gig In The Sky". Wright died in 2008 after a battle with cancer.

Nick Mason Open To AI Music

Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason is open to using AI to create new songs for the band. In a new interview, Mason says that artificial intelligence could potentially bridge the gap created by the long-standing rift between David Gilmour and former member Roger Waters, by generating new music as if the bassist had never left. Mason said, “It would be fascinating to see what AI could do with new music. If you tried to run it as a sort of ‘Where did Pink Floyd go after?’ The thing to do would be to have an AI situation where David and Roger become friends again. We could be like ABBA by the time we’ve finished with it.”

PAUL McCARTNEY: Remembers an Unlikely Mentor

Paul McCartney has added his name to the list of artists remembering UK blues great John Mayall, who died this past Tuesday. While it's no surprise that Eric Clapton, Mick Fleetwood and Mick Jagger paid tribute, it is a little surprising the role McCartney says Mayall played in his life. He writes, "In the 1960’s we would meet at one of the late-night music clubs and often go back to his house where he had a huge and glorious collection of records. During these moments he became a mentor and would educate me on a lot of the blues guitarists playing at the time.

"I would lounge back in the armchair, and he would play tracks by people like B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Albert King and many other great players. He would then play me tracks by Eric Clapton who was later in his band The Bluesbreakers. The more he played the more I could see the links between all these great guitarists. Besides being very entertaining, it was a great education noticing the similarities between these stunning players.

"John was a lovely, down to earth man from the North of England so we found it easy to relate to each other and I will always thank him for his love of music, the blues and his willingness to turn others on to what he knew. "Thanks John, love you!" John Mayall was 90.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN: London Lessons Coming Down

Bruce Springsteen is about to meet "Bruce Springsteen." Jeremy Allen White, the star of the Hulu series The Bear and of the Springsteen bio-pic Deliver Me From Nowhere, plans to be in London this week to meet with The Boss, who has two shows in the U.K. capital.

Having never met or spoken to Springsteen, White says they have “texted and E-mailed,” and will meet this Saturday after Springsteen’s show at London’s Wembley Stadium, the final date on his European and U.K. tour. White says, “I’m really excited to see him perform.

The film is based on Warren Zanes's 2023 book Deliver Me From Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska.

And speaking of Springsteen's two shows in London, on Thursday he played a role in another proposal. After finishing "The Promised Land” he noticed a sign in the audience that read "boyfriend will propose to me if he can have your harmonica.” So, Springsteen called the guy over, handed him his harmonica, and he kept his promise as he pulled his girlfriend close for a kiss. This is the second time in two years that someone has used securing a harmonica as an excuse to propose. The first time was last July in Oslo, Norway. It came about during "Mary's Place" when he was handed a sign from the audience that he read aloud. "'My boyfriend says if I get the harmonica (which he normally tosses into the audience) he will consider to propose to me this summer.' Consider?! Consider?! If I get the harmonica that sucker's proposing!"

Springsteen then asked for a harmonica, which a member of the road crew brought out to him. He handed it to the young lady and invited her on stage along with her boyfriend, who did as promised, and she said yes. Springsteen then announced, "It's official!"

While this was taking place The E Street Band continued to keep the beat to "Mary's Place" and a member of the horn section played "Bridal Chorus," commonly referred to as "Here Comes the Bride." And after the couple jumped off the stage, he resumed the song. You can watch it on YouTube. Springsteen starts another U.S. leg of dates on August 15th in Pittsburgh.

Tom Cruise Spotted at Bruce Springsteen Show in London

Tom Cruise attended Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s July 25 show at London’s Wembley Stadium. The actor was spotted in the VIP area, along with Phoebe Waller-Bridge and directors Christopher McQuarrie and Guillermo Del Toro. Cruise also attended one of Taylor Swift’s shows at Wembley Stadium last month.

Jessica Springsteen Sees Dad

Jessica Springsteen couldn’t compete in the Olympics this year, but Bruce Springsteen’s daughter did the next best thing on Saturday. She attended the Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band concert her dad was performing at Wembley Stadium in London. There, Jessica saw a surprise guest, mom Patti Scialfa, who sang the duet “Tougher Than the Rest” with her father in front of 80,000 people in the audience. Jessica posted a snippet of the performance on her Instagram story with a heart emoji. She also posted a shot of Bruce center stage performing the classic “Thunder Road” at the June 27 show.

Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has launched his second perfume. Working with of Sergio Momo of Xerjoff Blends, the new scent is Deified, and in conjunction with its release comes a song of the same name and a video. "Sergio said to me, 'Come with a list of all the things you like the smell of,' you know, leather, or roses, or whatever it may be, chocolate. You know, he made something out of the smells that I like or could associate with. You know, people probably think, 'Oh, he's just putting his name to it or...' It was nothing like that. It was together. And Sergio would come up with all these mixtures of scent and bring them over -- like eight little bottles, samples -- and we try them. And then he come back again with some more, and then some more, and it went backwards and forwards until we found one that, 'Oh yeah. We like this.'"

Sebastian Bach talked about his recurring role on ‘Gilmore Girls’ in a new interview. Bach played Gil, guitarist in the local rock band Hep Alien. He told Fox 5 Vegas of his time on the show, “I really enjoyed it. It's an hour-long show, and there's a lot of dialogue. And the director would always say, 'Okay. Do it one time as fast as you can.' So I'd be like an auctioneer [speaking really fast].”

Bach continued, “And then one time my agent calls, he goes, 'Sebastian, the show 'Law & Order' wants you to be a DJ, like a drug dealer or something. I go, 'Law & Order'. That's my dad's favorite show. And so I went to audition for 'Law & Order' and I did my lines as fast as I could because [of my 'Gilmore Girls' experience]. And the guy goes, 'Dude, slow down.' TODAY IS NATIONAL LASAGNA DAY

July 29th is National Lasagna Day! Mama Mia…July 29th is National Lasagna Day! While historians disagree about when this pasta dish first emerged, it’s assumed it was sometime after the 1600’s. Cities With The Highest & Lowest Inflation

The U.S. inflation rate is currently at about 3% annually - but some cities have it better or worse. The latest Consumer Price Index has Honolulu, Hawaii as the city with the highest inflation, at 5.2%. Dallas, New York City, Boston, and Riverside, CA round out the top five.

At the bottom of the list, Tampa has the lowest inflation at just 1.8%, followed by Houston, Minneapolis, Denver, and Atlanta.

$1MILLION STARTER HOMES ARE THE NORM IN 237 U.S. CITIES

Buying a home for the first time is part of the American dream for a lot of people, but new research suggests why that has become out of reach for so many. According to a new study from Zillow, first-time homebuyers will find a price tag of $1-million or more on starter homes in 237 U.S. cities.

The real estate site defines the typical “starter home” as one in the lowest third of home values in a given area and there are more cities than ever where they’re worth at least $1-million. Back in 2019, there were only 84 such cities, which means the number of them has nearly tripled in just five years.

·California is the state with the most of these million-dollar starter home cities with 117, up from just 53 in 2019.

·New York is second with 31, up from 13 five years ago.

·Overall, starter home values have gone up 54.1% since 2019.

But this isn’t the case everywhere in the U.S. Across the country, the typical starter home costs just under $200-thousand ($196,611), so it’s still comfortably affordable for a median-income household. That price is about the same as what a down payment is for a million-dollar home. And Zillow reports there’s good news for first-time homebuyers. Orphe Divounguy, a senior economist at Zillow explains, “More homes are for sale, price cuts are on the rise and buyers have a few more days to weigh their options as homes sit on the market.”

THE MOST POWERFUL PASSPORTS IN THE WORLD

How Olympic Gymnasts Compete Without Getting Wedgies

Ever wonder how Olympic gymnasts manage to do all those flips, jumps, and splits without getting major wedgies? Well, unsurprisingly, a lot goes into the design of their leotards to prevent slipping and shifting. For starters, the company who produces American Olympic gymnasts’ performance outfits, GK Elite, tailors each outfit to the athlete’s measurements using very specific materials. The custom-fitted uniforms then undergo trial wears and testing to make sure they fit and stay put. In addition to these measures, body adhesives and special underwear provide further anti-wedgie reinforcement, though they’re secondary to just making sure the leotards are a great fit. This intense design process starts about two years prior to the actual competition.

That translates to about 631 cans each year per person. You can see how much beer your state drinks here.

Ohio Supreme Court Rules That Boneless Chicken Wings Can Have Bones

In a 4-3 decision, the Ohio Supreme Court took a firm stand on boneless chicken wings, saying that they can have bones in them. The case dates back to 2017 when Michael Berkheimer got a bone fragment in his restaurant order of boneless chicken wings. According to the lawsuit, a bone fragment measuring one-and-three-eighths inches “went down the wrong pipe,” causing him to eventually develop a fever and requiring an ER visit due to a “massive infection in his thoracic cavity.” This eventually led to “several surgeries and two medically induced comas.” Berkheimer’s lawsuit accused the restaurant of negligence, but the Ohio Supreme Court eventually weighed in saying that a customer ordering chicken wings shouldn’t be surprised to find a bone in them.

Priest Sues After Outed On Grindr

A priest is suing dating app Grindr after he claims he was “outed” when he tried to use the app. Monsignor Jeffrey Burrill started using Grindr in 2017 believing there was “no indication that people outside of the app could access his data.” According to his lawsuit, Burrill “never would’ve downloaded” the app had he known it was possible, especially considering he took a “vow of celibacy” as part of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. In 2021, a “Catholic media site” reported Burrill had been using Grindr and forced him to resign. The suit accuses Grindr of not protecting his data, leading him to lose his job, and causing him to suffer “significant damages” to his reputation.
