AEROSMITH: Finished!!!
Aerosmith have announced they’re retiring from the road. The band posted a statement
Friday afternoon that said Steven Tyler’s blowing out his larynx last year will not allow him to return to the stage.
The statement says, “It was 1970 when a spark of inspiration became Aerosmith. Thanks to you, our Blue Army, that spark caught flame and has been burning for over five decades. Some of you have been with us since the beginning and all of you are the reason we made rock ‘n' roll history. "It has been the honor of our lives to have our music become part of yours. In every club, on every massive tour and at moments grand and private you have given us a place in the soundtrack of your lives.
"We've always wanted to blow your mind when performing. As you know, Steven's voice is an instrument like no other. He has spent months tirelessly working on getting his voice to where it was before his injury. We've seen him struggling despite having the best medical team by his side. Sadly, it is clear, that a full recovery from his vocal injury is not possible. We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision -- as a band of brothers -- to retire from the touring stage.
"We are grateful beyond words for everyone who was pumped to get on the road with us one last time. "Grateful to our expert crew, our incredible team and the thousands of talented people who've made our historic runs possible. A final thank you to you -- the best fans on planet Earth. Play our music loud, now and always. "Dream On. You've made our dreams come true.”
The rescheduled Peace Out tour was set to begin September 20th in Pittsburgh. Ticket holders will automatically be refunded their money by Ticketmaster. For those who purchased via third-party resale sites such as SeatGeek, StubHub, VividSeats, etc. – please reach out to your point of purchase for more details.
Tyler suffered the injury during the third show of the Peace Out tour last September.
So, should this hold true, Aerosmith's last show was September 9th, 2023 at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York, 23 miles outside Manhattan. Appropriately enough, their last Aerosmith song was "Walk This Way." The final song of the night wasn't one of the band's many hits - it was "Happy Birthday to You", which Tyler led the audience in singing to guitarist Joe Perry in honor of his 73rd birthday.
AEROSMITH: Peers Weigh in on Their Retirement
Some of Aerosmith's peers have weighed in on their announcement Friday that they're done touring due to Steven Tyler blowing out his larynx last September during the third and now final show of their Peace Out tour and career.
During Sammy Hagar's show Friday in the Detroit suburb of Clarkston, Michigan, he said, "We
got here this afternoon and we're all sitting around backstage and a friend of ours that works for Aerosmith came and said, 'Yeah, Aerosmith [announced their] retirement today. They quit. They stopped.' God bless 'em. "It's a horrible thing. It's a horrible thing. What a great loss.
"I gotta tell ya, one of the times in 1974, Montrose was playing Cobo [Arena in Detroit], and we were opening for Aerosmith, and we didn't know who they were, and they sold out Cobo, and I'm going, 'Who the [hell] are these guys?' So, we did our show, we did an encore, and we played [The Beatles'] 'Helter Skelter' for our encore. And Aerosmith comes on and they opened with 'Helter Skelter.' Steven and I have been friends ever since.
"Long story short, we love those guys. We all grew up with those guys. You grew up with them... Mike [Anthony] and I. They've been our competitors to Van Halen for 10 years. You know what I'm saying? '[Screw] those guys.' No, no, no, but we really do like them. It's just that we're mad at them. "But anyway, what a shame. It's a sad thing, but honest to God, my hat goes off to one of the greatest rock and roll singers of all time, Mister Steven Tyler, for saying, 'I can't sing anymore. I quit.'
"[Hell] yes. Listen, that's honorable. That's honorable. The day I can't sing anymore, I will do the same thing. And that's what a lot of other [singers] should have done a long time ago.
"So let's do one. Let's do one for them. Let's do one for Aerosmith."
And with that, Hagar led the band through "Helter Skelter."
Others paying tribute include Brian May, Slash and The Black Crowes, who will lose some big bucks as they were set to open the Peace Out tour, which was supposed to start up again on September 20th in Pittsburgh.
AEROSMITH: Wasn't Supposed to Walk That Way
Little did Aerosmith know 15 years ago today (Monday) -- August 5th, 2009 -- that their show that night would mark a major turning point in the future of the band. While mucking it up for the crowd in between songs due to some technical problems, Steven Tyler lost his balance and fell off the stage, resulting in a broken shoulder and lacerations to his head and back.
Aerosmith then pulled the plug on the rest of their tour, which had ZZ Top opening, and what followed were numerous months of tension between Tyler and the band. It started with Tyler having no contact with his bandmates, and then announcing that he wanted to pursue some solo projects, which included writing his memoir. Then, on November 10th, 2009, Tyler surprised Joe Perry by joining him on stage during his show in New York to sing "Walk This Way" and saying to the audience that he wasn't quitting the band.
But in December 2009, Tyler entered rehab for his addiction to painkillers, which would be followed by leg surgery. This led Perry to say they didn't want to sit idly by and they were going to audition singers, which of course never happened. However, among the singers they were interested in were Lenny Kravitz, Paul Rodgers, Sammy Hagar, Billy Idol, Chris Cornell and Chris Daughtry. Of course this didn't sit well with Tyler, whose lawyer threatened legal action.
Cooler heads prevailed and the band got back together for a spring and summer tour in 2010.
However, it's not been smooth sailing since, even insofar as their Peace Out farewell tour is concerned as they had to pull the plug on it last year after Tyler blew out his larynx during the third show. And last Friday afternoon they announced that Tyler can no longer sing and they've retired from the road.
Springsteen Spotted With Spielberg
Bruce Springsteen is pushing 75, but he's still looking buff. The 74-year-old rocker was spotted shirtless on a yacht in Saint Tropez last Thursday vacationing with filmmaker Steven Spielberg.
The director was even seen capturing images of The Boss while they were both out on a pair of wave runners off the southern coast of France. Just weeks before the yacht outing, Springsteen was named the latest billionaire by Forbes.
Bryan Adams Releases Kiss Songs He Co-Wrote
Bryan Adams has started his own record label, Bad Records, and its first release is a vinyl 7" single featuring two songs he co-wrote for Kiss before he made it big. Adams worked on Rock And Roll Hell and War Machine for Kiss's 'Creatures Of The Night' album in 1982, the year before his breakthrough album 'Cuts Like a Knife' was released. Adams has also filmed a video for Rock And Roll Hell, which was shot on the roof of London's iconic Royal Albert Hall during his 'So Happy It Hurts' Tour residency in May. The single is available on streaming platforms now, and the vinyl edition will ship on August 30.

Foo Fighters Cover Tenacious D In Denver
Dave Grohl offered a tribute - literally - to Tenacious D during Saturday's Foo Fighters show in Denver, CO. He played an acoustic version of "Tribute" - a song he played on for The D's debut album. Grohl only made it through the first verse before realizing he didn't know the lyrics, joking "I only played the drums on that song". Tenacious D has found themselves in some trouble lately, canceling their summer tour and going on hiatus after Kyle Gass made a joke about the assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
Wolfgang Van Halen Thought He and David Lee Roth ‘Were On Good Terms’
Wolfgang Van Halen touched on recent comments from David Lee Roth in an appearance on ‘WTF with Marc Maron.’ WVH said, “I thought we were on good terms, and he actually made a couple YouTube videos about me, about how much he doesn't like me, which was, like, 'Okay, cool man.'” He added, “I don't know what it is with '80s bands. There's always f*cking something. I've kind of used it as my own… just, like, I don't want this to happen. So it's, like, for my band, it's, like, why can't we just have a good time and just be happy and make music? Like, is it that f*cking difficult?”

Jack White's New Album Drops
Jack White’s new album is officially out. “No Name” is a self-produced record that was in Third Man Record retail stores earlier this month in a plain white sleeve with no information beyond the title. It is now available in full physical and digital versions. It is also available on black vinyl via Third Man Records, and Jack White’s website. White is getting ready for a small series of festival dates across Europe in August, as a last-minute replacement for Queens of the Stone Age after they were forced to pull out due to Josh Homme’s health issues.
TOWNSHEND & DALTREY: Behind the Fires
Pete Townshend, in conjunction with last month's release of his 14-CD box set, Live in Concert 1985-2001, has released a video of his November 1985 performance of "After the Fire" at London's Brixton Academy with Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour.
Townshend wrote it about the famine in Ethiopia for The Who to perform at Live Aid on July 13th, 1985, but they weren't able to rehearse it in time.
Meanwhile, Roger Daltrey was working on a new album in 1985 when he had a chance encounter with Townshend in London. "I was almost through doing all the songs for the album and I was one song short. And I went into a restaurant in Soho and in comes Pete and he said, 'Oh, I got a song for you.' It's almost like a cross between The Who and Bruce Springsteen -- very haunting and it really works. And it's really amazing that Pete came up with a song called 'After the Fire' after I just recorded about three or four other songs on the album which mentioned fire and burning. It was unbelievable how it all fit together." "After the Fire" was the lead track from Daltrey's sixth album, Under a Raging Moon, released in September 1985, two months before Townshend performed it as part of his two Deep End concerts in London.
Bret Michaels On The Time Slash Auditioned For Poison
Here's a great 'what if' question - what if instead of forming Guns N' Roses, Slash had been the guitarist for Poison? It could have happened - Bret Michaels recently opened up about the time Slash auditioned for the band. "He had the same look back then, he was very cool. He had that kind of Rolling Stones-type cool that he still has. He came into our rehearsal room and he played every song we had, note perfect. He was very rock’n’roll.” So why didn't he join?
Michaels said Slash wanted two guitar players in the band and "we were not looking for that." They ended up hiring CC Deville and the rest is history. Michaels still believes it was "the right decision for us and Slash".
Tony Iommi To Re-Release Solo Albums

Coming to vinyl for the first time, ‘1996 The Dep Sessions’ and the following year's “Fused,” will both be re-released on October 4. “Gone” is the opening track from “1996 The Dep Sessions,” and finds Iommi and Hughes joined by current Deep Purple man Don Airey. The Fused track list also contains three tracks not included on the original domestic release and comes on Translucent Cobalt Blue vinyl.
DEF LEPPARD: Cl Cl Cl Clubbin’
Def Leppard are a staple in strip clubs with "Pour Some Sugar on Me," and now they're hoping to be a hit in clubs where clothes are required. They've released three remixes of "Photograph," off their third album, 1983's Pyromania. Done by DJ Armand Van Helden, there's a radio mix, an extended club mix and an instrumental mix. Def Leppard's stadium tour with Journey heads to Boston's Fenway Park today (Monday) with Steve Miller opening.

Olympic Village Goes Crazy For Viral Chocolate Muffins
There’s been a huge surge in popularity of a particular item being served to Olympic athletes at the Olympic Village in Paris. Ever since Norwegian swimmer Henrik Christiansen posted on social media about a particular double chocolate muffin, the company responsible for feeding the 15-thousand Olympians, Sodexo Live!, has been doling out nearly 2-thousand of them every day. The muffins, which are being served at multiple venues across the Village, are described as being filled and topped with chunks of dark and milk chocolate. Sodexo Live! is keeping the recipe for the muffins under wraps, but they say over the course of the Olympics and the Paralympics, they’ll be serving around 100-thousand of them.

Single 28-Year-Old Philly Man Rents Billboard To Find A Date
How far would you go to try to find love? A single guy from West Philadelphia is looking for love, or just a date, in an unconventional way by really putting himself out there … or up there. Dave Clinehas recently rented a billboard to advertise his quest for a date.
The 28-year-old’s huge sign hangs in his neighborhood and features a smiling photo of himself giving a thumb’s up, with the message: “Dave is single! Want to go on a DATE with DAVE?”
·It features some “fast facts” about him, including that he “Can cook (well), “has normal hobbies,” he “owns a cat” and that he “bought a billboard.”
·Extra points to Dave for including a photo of his cat on the billboard. Including a photo of your pet in your dating app profile is supposed to boost your success, so it’s got to help on a billboard, too.
·The datamanager paid more than $1,000 to rent the large, colorful billboard for a month, so has it worked? Not so far.
·Dave says it was actually “just supposed to be funny for the most part,” but it has led to some messages and he has a date in the works. While he’s still currently single, he’s optimistic.
“If you live in Philadelphia (or anywhere with central AC) feel free to send me a message,” he writes on Instagram. “My only request is that if you want to reach out, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t send me spam, threats, or anything weird! I have literally no idea if this will be popular at all or totally forgettable in 2 days, so just have fun and feel free to ask me out ❤️.” Interested single women over the age of 21 are encouraged to send him a message on Instagram at date_dave_philly.
Cruise Passengers Help Break Guinness World Record For Largest Pizza Party
Travelers aboard multiple Princess Cruises ships recently broke the world record for the largest pizza party, consuming over 60-thousand slices of pizza. This Guinness World Record attempt involved 11,445 people across 16 ships in various locations. The event also highlighted the cruise line's new collaboration with world pizza champion chef Tony Gemignani. Princess Cruises also holds a 2020 record for the largest marriage vow renewal ceremony.
Study Finds Male Drivers Take More Risks with 'Sexy-Sounding' GPS Voice
A new study found that sexy-sounding GPS voices make men take more risks while driving. The research suggests that men are more likely to run through yellow traffic lights when guided by GPS women with higher-pitched voices. These voices, associated with youth and attractiveness, influence males to be more reckless. Researchers from Shanghai’s Fudan University noted, "Male risk-taking behaviors influenced by female voices can be dangerous when driving."
They suggest making the voices in GPS systems sound less feminine to make driving safer. The study involved two experiments: in the first, men in a driving simulator received instructions from either a low-pitched or high-pitched female voice. If the dude was listening to the high-pitched GPS voice when he came up to a yellow light, he was 40% more likely to run it than if the low-voice was talking. This study raises concerns about the safety implications of using sexy female voices in-car navigation systems.
A $5 Bill Could Be Worth $2,000
If you have any $5 bills in your wallet, you might want to check them out before spending them. There are over 826 million $5 bills in circulation, but some can be worth a lot more to currency collectors. It's all about the serial numbers. According to GOBankingRates, bills with serials like "G88888888A" or "B55555555C" could be worth thousands because they have a "solid" serial number, where all digits are the same. Only about one in 11 million $5 bills have these solid serial numbers, which is why some can sell for over $2,000. If you find one, it's a good idea to get it appraised at a local coin shop. Other denominations with unique serial numbers can also be valuable to collectors.
Swimmers Must SEND A FAX After Breaking A World Record
Athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympics are not only vying for podium spots but also aiming to break world records. So far, only one record has been broken in swimming, with Chinese swimmer Pan Zhanle setting a new 100m freestyle record at 46.4 seconds. This is a big contrast to the six records set at Tokyo 2020 and eight at Rio 2016, showing a significant drop in record-breaking performances.
But a quirky rule impacts swimmers who break records: they must submit their achievements via fax to be verified by World Aquatics, the sport's governing body. Despite the modern era, fax machines remain essential for record verification at the Olympics. Other unusual rules include boxers needing to be clean-shaven, gymnasts being forbidden from wearing vibrant nail polish, BMX riders tucking in their shirts, wrestlers carrying handkerchiefs for blood, and water polo players having their toenails checked to prevent scratching. The Olympics certainly have their fair share of quirky regulations!
Survey: The Most Sought-After Airplane Seats
Picking your seat is a matter of perspective. If you’re talking about airplanes, it’s big business. If you’re talking about a wedgie, it’s entirely different. Upgraded Points has released a survey revealing the most sought-after seats on a plane, how much Americans are willing to pay to pick a seat, and which airline has the most comfortable seats. Here are a few of the results based on responses from 3,142 American travelers.
·The most sought-after seat on the plane is 1A, by the window. That’s followed by 7A and 7F,
·the window seats that are just behind the first-class section, and 1F, the opposite first-row window seat (based on the seat map of a Boeing 737-800 aircraft)
·Hawaii is the state willing to pay the most for the chance to pick their own seat ($52.10), followed by Arkansas ($49.90) and Connecticut ($47.86)
·Over one-third of respondents credit Delta with having the most comfortable seats, followed by American & United, at 15.9%, and Southwest, at 14.5%
Cop Recognized By MADD Suspected Of DUI
What a difference a bad decision can make. Just over one month ago, Tempe, Arizona police officer Zachary Hyde was one of two officers given the “Hero Award” at the 35th Annual Mothers Against Drunk Driving law enforcement recognition banquet. The honor was given for Hyde’s “hard work and diligence to ensuring safety” on the streets of Tempe. Last Wednesday, however, things turned south for Hyde, when the Tempe Police Department was notified of “a DUI investigation involving an off-duty officer named Zachary Hyde.”
Owl Charged With Ring Bearer Duties Takes Off For Seven Hours
In Leeds, England, an owl was supposed to deliver the rings during a wedding ceremony. Nature, however, tends to do whatever it wants, and that owl clearly had other plans. The wedding, scheduled at 1:00 pm, was to feature the winged ring delivery during the ceremony. Instead, the owl…along with the wedding bands…decided to take flight and perch itself at the top of the Abbey where the wedding was being held. Seven hours later, the owl finally decided to come down, and the wedding went on…better late than never.
Woman's Passport Delayed Due To Warner Bros. Name Trademark Issue
In the UK, a mother was “devastated” after a trademark dispute threatened to prevent her daughter from getting her passport so they could go to Disneyland Paris. Lucy, last name withheld, and her daughter, Khaleesi, who is six, were excited about their international destination. However, Khaleesi’s passport was withheld, with officials claiming, “They were unable to issue a passport unless Warner Bros. gave permission as it owned the name’s trademark.” It wasn’t until Lucy sought legal advice, and got some media attention, that proper steps were taken, and it was learned that Warner Bros. owns the “Game of Thrones” trademark for “goods and services, but not for a person’s name.” Officials have since apologized for the misunderstanding, and Lucy believes nothing would’ve been done had she not gotten media attention for her story.

Very Old Message In Bottle Found On Jersey Shore
A woman finds a bottle with a message in it while walking along the shore in Ocean City, New Jersey, and it just might set a world record for oldest message in a bottle ever found. Orange Juice Prices Skyrocket
Getting your daily dose of vitamin C is becoming more expensive. The price of orange juice has skyrocketed to an average of $4.26 per 16 ounces, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. That price represents a 30 percent increase from last year, and a $2 jump from 2020, per the USDA. The reason for the dramatic rise? A disease known as Huanglongbing is destroying orange crops in Florida, Texas and California, costing growers millions of dollars a year, the USDA reports. “Citrus production in the United States is in a pretty dire situation right now,” says economist Daniel Munch. “When you have a lack of supply that’s unable to meet demand, prices for consumers shoot up.”

Songs That Pump Up Team USA Olympians Before Competing
We all have music that makes us feel ready to take on anything and the athletes at the Summer Olympics in Paris are no exception. So, what are they listening to in their headphones to get in the zone before they compete? These are some of Team USA’s favorite warm up tracks that get them pumped before a big game, meet or match.
·“Defying Gravity” from ‘Wicked” - Taryn Kloth and Kristen Nuss, Beach Volleyball. These two aren’t just a pair when they play, they’re also roommates in real life and they share a playlist and AirPods when they warm up. They listen to a variety of music and Nuss says her brother even wrote them a hype-up song just for the Olympics.
·“Baby” by Justin Bieber - Anna Hall, Heptathlon. On race day, the 23-year-old says she listens to this, “even though I look really serious and locked in, which is funny.”
·“No Role Modelz” by J. Cole - Jasmine Moore, Triple Jump and Long Jump - The track and field star won bronze in the triple jump over the weekend, the U.S.A’s first-ever medal in the event. She likes a mix of music from country to gospel, but says “J. Cole’s my guy. That’s my number one.”
·“Fireflies” by Owl City - Yared Nuguse, Track and Field. This electro-pop hit is “very calming” to the track athlete, who notes “I kind of want to be a little calm versus really amped up” on race day.
·“My Sacrifice” by Creed - Men’s Rowing Team. According to Nick Mead, this song “started out as a bit” for the team, before becoming an anthem for them. And it seems to be working, as they won their first men’s four gold medal since 1960 last week.
·“Pink Skies” by Zach Bryan - Ryan Held, Swimming. He says he prefers calmer music before competing and this has been a favorite recently.
·“Snooze” by SZA - CJ Nickolas, Taekwondo. When the 23-year-old athlete was delayed the last time he hit the ring, he says he listened to “Snooze” on repeat for 30 minutes straight.
·“Lose Yourself” by Eminem - Kelsey Bing, Field Hockey. She says there isn’t one song that pumps her up, she just listens to whatever matches the vibe of the day, from classic rock to country to Eminem.
·“Really Really” by Kevin Gates - Perry Baker, Rugby. This athlete may be the hip hop star’s biggest fan. “Any song by Kevin Gates,” Baker says. “Music just makes me feel good. It’s a certain song that helps you get in the zone. I put some Gates on, that’s time to go.”
